Founder’s/Owner’s story and what motivated me to start the business
The netabay review website was created by Emmanuel and the birthing story of the netabay review website is a classic which took place in the last months of the 2020 lockdown as COVID-19 struck.
Before the massive 2020 COVID-19 lockdown I was in my 5th year in the university, almost through with my program. At the beginning of the lockdown, I knew it was going to be a serious one but I always worried about how long it was going to last because I didn’t want to wander so far from my education.
While at home I had to join my parents and help out with tasks on the farm to help sustain the family during the lockdown as one of the major problems was a reduction in their earnings as a result of the lockdown.
Though I always dreamt of venturing into the business of online reviews and helping people with extensive about their prospective products, it took time to take bold steps toward it because my attention was divided.
Before the lockdown, I worked part-time as a review writer for website owners and it was something I loved doing. Because I enjoyed it, I saw it as a relief and a welcome distraction from my clogged-up academic activities in school. That was why I turned my gaze on once more during the lockdown.
As the lockdown lingered my vision and zeal for starting up my website became clearer, and I started to take definitive steps. As one would expect, the ride was bumpy but little by little I researched and built; reading about website startups and watching youtube videos on how to create my website and how to design it to taste.
I also took a short course on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) as it was very important in the online marketing world. These baby steps would later accumulate into important milestones in my personal development.
With the COVID-19 raging through the 2020 lockdown and with the casualty count rising every day, the air was filled with tension and uncertainty. People didn’t want to leave their houses because they were scared of the virus and what might happen to them if they went outside.
This led to people looking up products like different gadgets online, learning about them and purchasing from home, leading to a surge in the incident of online shopping.
I considered it an honest opportunity, to study some products people would want to buy and provide an honest review about them. I chose to specialize in everyday gadgets, home-use gadgets and outdoor gadgets. I then joined some affiliate website networks where I wrote reviews concerning the products they offer.
This way my readers learn more about these products; understanding what exactly it is, what services the products will provide them, and the pros and cons associated with the product. They also are provided the opportunity to make orders directly to the manufacturer’s with bonuses like reduced cost, guarantees, sometimes free delivery and safe purchase outlets.

The challenges the business/market is facing
There is this regular exercise I do at monthly intervals where I assess my website data and my work journal to outline the challenges my website is facing so I can try to devise ways to solve them. This method has often helped me assess my strengths and weaknesses.
As the owner of a website, I face a lot of challenges on a daily basis. However, there are three primary challenges my website is facing; my tight schedule, SEO ranking matrix, and high competition.
I do have a very tight schedule, having to combine my studies and helping out at home with the continuous attention my tender website requires. Most times I stay more than half the day at school and come back drained from the day’s activities. The little energy left most times is used to help out with home chores leaving me with very little time and energy for my website tasks.
After noticing this, I plotted a chart allocating days with a specific number of hours to my website development assignments. Though this is hardly followed strictly it has helped me consciously allocate quality time to my website development.
Another challenge my website faces is the problem of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The role of SEO in a website’s development cannot be overemphasized. For your website ranking to be healthy on google, your posts should be conforming to these SEO standards which are always changing and sometimes hard to keep up with.
By doing quality keyword research before each post, choosing the right keywords and using approved SEO techniques, my website has slowly improved its ranking on google and become more visible to potential viewers.
Finally, High ranking competitors can be discouraging especially since my website is still not receiving the traffic I desire. But it is important to remember that even the most popular websites had to start somewhere.
Though the growth is slow and sometimes I feel exhausted, I must keep up with what is expected of me. With time and consistent effort, my website can achieve the same level of success as its higher-ranking competitors. I understand I must be patient and consistent in my effort in order to see results.
