Pearl Honey Spreads is a company that provides a healthy alternative to “sugar spreads”. Our honeys, conserves, and preserves are made with clean ingredients such as real fruits, creamed raw honey, lemon juice, and fruit pectin. Pearl Honey Spreads is gluten, soy, dairy, coloring and preservative-free and they’re also healthy for both children & adults with or without a specialized diet.
Founder’s/Owner’s story and what motivated them to start the business: Have you ever been curious why there are different names for sugar (sucrose, fructose, corn syrup, etc.) amongst the lists of ingredients on a jar of jam or jelly? In addition to this list of ingredients that you can’t even pronounce, the fruit, which is meant to be the main nourishment, has the least amount of grams, why is that? These were some of the questions I couldn’t get answers to when my daughter Pearl asked me for PB&J. As a mother who is very particular about what I feed her, I couldn’t bring myself to give that to my child. So, Pearl Honey Spreads came into existence out of a need to eliminate processed sugar from my daughter’s diet.
The challenges the business/market is facing: As a business we have many challenges but one of the main ones is partnering with a co-packer that would be willing to work with our recipes as they are without additional unhealthy ingredients. We pride ourselves in using clean ingredients for all of our products and we intend to continue to do so.
The opportunities the business/market is facing: Pre, during and post COVID, we can see that the movement to have a healthy lifestyle has risen and more so increasing exponentially every day. Our products do provide options for people, letting them know they can eat healthy while not breaking the bank. The opportunity is there for Pearl Honey Spreads and we hope this article would help spread the word even further.
Advice to others about business: Stay through to why you started the business. Sometimes you get different opinions (solicited and unsolicited), you might compare your brand to other founders and feel that you are not doing enough. Remember, you starting a business is very courageous and you’re making a difference and it is extraordinary. So, remember you are doing great!
